Hermes Paris

The flagship Hermes store in Paris is amazing. Opened this past November it sits on the site of a former 2,500 sq/meter swimming pool, designed by Denis Montel he created it using enormous structures of disposable wood. Located on Rue Severes on the Left Bank. It is a shopping experience for all senses. Every element is meticulously set, the merchandise whether flowers, books, jewelry, home or clothes are positioned to give the buyer a feeling of walking thru an art exhibit. And it is just that, an exhibit of the art of Hermes, It is a living exhibit, a lifestyle store like no other. Not stuffy or intimidating, the open bright 2 floor horse shoe layout is inviting. Its alive !  Finish off your shopping by going to the second floor cafe to enjoy some tea/coffee & pastries while overlooking the store.  A must visit,  you may never want to leave !!

JANUARY 31,2011

Well, here we are on the last day of the first month of the next decade...
with the anticipation of what the millennium would bring,  it happened!
the technology we all tried to imagine that would be a more space age image , was replaced by what actually happened. The birth of the Human age. All the aspects of Human and Humanity trumped. Human rights , revolutions for change,  Freedom of expressions , and Ideas are desired more than ever.

A Renaissance .. of the technological kind.
Social, the most human of attributes is redefined with the use of the network. technology today allows us to communicate instantly with others. the twitter bird is the carrier pigeon of the past.
Social network. getting back in touch, Linkedin , sharing our lives with others. is what we crave and have always.
Instead of flying cars, that we might have imagined, we saw the Segway come to light. We are understanding the importance of conserving energy, thinking of alternative methods.

Local, closer relation to food and the earth, organic , going back to what was, pure ingredients , materials, is what is desired.  Green was the color that defined the decade.

So when we imagine this next decade, perhaps we should start to look within. I believe change with a conscience will be more and more important.
The marriage of technology and humanity has taken place, and will certainly walk with us in the next decade.
Welcome to my first blog, I was inspired by the future, while looking at the past.
here you will find an eye on the now. all that is of society, art , design well…
Human !!
